Internship summary:
We're looking for a Green Business Network Intern who can commit 10-15 hours a week to engage with the local businesses and nonprofits in PEA’s Green Business Network.
The internship has a flexible schedule (10-15 hours a week), with at least half of the hours in our downtown Winston-Salem office space.
Timeline: September - December 2026

Piedmont Environmental Alliance (PEA) is a local nonprofit that works every day to create a more just, resilient, and environmentally sustainable Piedmont Triad. Based in Winston-Salem, NC, PEA’s innovative education programs, annual events, and community-based advocacy projects engage thousands of volunteers, students, faith communities, businesses, and partner organizations in climate and environmental action. Responsibilities:
- Participate in outreach to our Green Business Network and for our Electrify the Triad, Clean School Bus Program, and Municipal Investment Fund campaigns.
- Support program administration, including sending invoices, scheduling GBN member meetings, updating our member database, and other priorities as needed.
- Regularly research and compile local green jobs to include in our Green Way newsletter and on our Triad Green Job Center website
- Help promote GBN and our GBN members in social media by capturing video content, sharing social media posts, and more as interested.
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication.

Strong organizational skills, self-motivated, and attentive to details.

Comfortable asking engaging with current and potential members over the phone, email, and in person.

Demonstrated commitment to environmental and social issues is a plus.

You have a personal passion for the outdoors, environmental stewardship and sustainability, and have taken action to get involved in the issues you care about.

Compensation:
This is an unpaid volunteer position.
