Paul J Ciener Botanical Garden August Lecture

August 9, 2018 -
6:00pm to 7:00pm
The Ballroom, Paul J Ciener Botanical Garden, 215 S Main St, Kernersville, NC 27284

Come out to the Paul J Ciener Botanical Garden for the lecture "Fascinating Carnivorous Plants of the Southeastern US" by David McAdoo.

The southeastern quadrant of the United States is the home of an amazing number of carnivorous plants left behind from the ice age. Our area was protected from the northern ice flow by the Appalachian Mountains and there are many unique plants to be found here. One category is fascinating because they get their nutrition by eating bugs!

David McAdoo will share pictures and information about the varieties of carnivorous plants that live here and nowhere else in the world. This includes pitcher plants, sundews, and the famous Venus Flytrap. S and J Greens, a vendor of carnivorous and bog plants, will also be at the Garden with plants for sale and to talk about constructing a simple bog garden for them.

FREE to Members of the Garden or a $5 donation for non-members.

Light refreshments will be served.

Registration is required. To register, call 336-996-7888.
