A: We as a Board of Education assure that all students who are eligible for Title 1 funds receive healthy meals through our school nutrition program

A: By providing essential curricula based studies that impact our environment. We are currently collaborating as a team with various community groups to make that happen.

A: We are currently looking at proposals from sustainability providers who will assess our energy usage and offer help to conserve energy in our buildings. They will also assess renewable energy options for our district.

Q: The City of Winston-Salem is currently working on a NCDOT-funded Safe Routes to School project to increase the number of students who bicycle or walk to, from, or at school.  Do you support the Safe Routes to School project? (yes/no) 
A: Yes

A: 5

A: I will support policies and help with the creation of policies to support environmental justice within the school system.

A: 5

Q: As a Board of Education member, what will you do to increase school wide recycling and composting? (open-ended question)
A: A couple of years ago we implemented the compostable trays program along with recycling at a target school. We will bring this back with additional pilot programs to schools who would like to participate. In addition, we will work toward policies that address recycling and composting in all schools. We also have addressed bottle fillers, compostable trays etc.
