PEA Certified Green Business Members

This year, PEA launched an all-new Green Business Network to provide a roadmap to sustainability for local businesses and support business owners as they make big strides to achieve more environmentally busiiness practices. Each business in the network signed up to complete a scorecard of sustainability action items ranging from creating short term goals to making long-term green investments- view the scorecard below!

These are the businesses that have met all requirements to become Certified Green Business Members in 2021.

Village Juice Company was formed in 2014, selling cold-pressed juices out of a tent at the local farmers’ market. It has since grown to five full-service restaurant locations, each with a full, creative menu of fresh, scratch-made foods consisting of salads, smoothies, toasts, raw desserts and much more. Everything on the menu is pressed, squeezed, ground, pureed, mixed, chopped and crafted in-house. This year, our friends at VJC sourced many of their ingredients locally and transitioned more than 50% of their lights as part of their sustainability efforts.

a/perture cinema celebrated its 10th anniversary in Downtown Winston-Salem in January 2020. For the past decade, a/perture has been serving the community the art of film and providing a communal, cinematic experience. As an intimate and welcoming communal space, a/perture is constantly building social capital through our films and opportunities for conversation. a/perture strives to expand connections with diverse populations works with community partners to build and bridge those connections. Though a/perture was closed for much of this year due to COVID-19, initiatives like the elimination of single use plastics and composting food waste were implemented while still open.
 

Camino Bakery is a Winston-Salem bakery with locations in the heart of downtown. Between the owners and the impassioned people who compose the Camino family, Camino Bakery is a bakery with many passions that not only include offering high quality food and coffee, but also stoking the embers of community, giving back through local organizations, creating local partnerships, and being good stewards of the Earth. Camino has championed sustainabiltiy with initiatives like donating unpurchased food to local food banks and eliminating more than 3 single use plastic items in their facility.
