Fund Composting at WS/FC Schools

Tell the Board of Education: I want compost pick-up at local schools.

In the coming months, the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School board will vote on funding the removal of compostable materials at local schools. Write a thank-you note to WS/FCS leaders to show your support for the elimination of styrofoam trays in all schools and to advocate for the expansion of compost pick-up services.

Dear WS/FCS leaders,

I am writing today to thank you for taking a stand for our environment by electing to eliminate styrofoam lunch trays in local schools. As a member of this community, I feel proud to live in a school district with board members who care deeply about the health, safety, and environment of the children who live here. Your decision to switch to all reusable and compostable trays is an inspiration to those of us at home as well as to the local business community.

I am thankful for your diligent work on this issue, and I would like to voice my support for the expansion of compost pick-up to all schools in the district to supplement the tray efforts. I hope you will consider my request and continue to support environmental sustainability in our school district. Thanks for all you do in our community.

Sincerely,
