Join Wild Ones Central NC to discuss considerations to be incorporated in native garden design. While we're all becoming interested in growing more native plants in our gardens, it's still important to think about design concepts so that our gardens are attractive and maintainable year-round.

Kathy Johnson will discuss design considerations to be incorporated as you create or enhance your garden, along with suggestions of native plants that work well together.

Kathy Johnson has been a Forsyth County Master Gardener for the last six years, and was previously an Extension Master Gardener with Transylvania County in Western North Carolina for twelve years. Kathy is also a retired professional landscape designer, with certificates in Landscape Design and Woody Plants from George Washington University. She did most of her landscape design work in Brevard, NC through her company Wildwood Design. She is a grandmother of four, and is encouraging the little ones to learn gardening and the love of plants and insects. Kathy has become increasingly aware of the importance of sustainable practices and the use native plants to support biodiversity and the environment and looks forward to speaking with you about native plant gardening today.
