What is a Climate Fresk?
A Climate Fresk is a fun, collaborative, and educational workshop that turns learning the science of climate change into a game. It’s hands-on and each fresk group has no more than 7 participants to keep the environment inviting and intimate. Climate Fresk is a French-based NGO, with the aim to make climate science more accessible using graphs and data from the UN's climate scientists, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The Climate Fresk is sponsored by Valérie Masson-Delmotte, Co-Chair of the IPCC working group I.
How does it work?
The workshop is a collaborative, three-hour workshop that helps teach audiences about climate change by having them solve an interactive puzzle as a group. There are five sets of cards and participants work together to put them in the order of cause and effect. As the cards are laid on the table, they create a sort of “fresco” and a bigger picture comes into view. The workshop includes creative expression, conversations about intersectionality, emotions that come up around climate change, and solutions with a focus on macro level ideas.
