A: 5

A: I currently serve on the City of Winston-Salem Sustainability Committee that has been working on recommendations and solutions for the city to consider for implementation. I have recently been re-appointed to the committee after serving a 4 year term.

Q: As a representative in the NC General Assembly, how will you advocate for equitable public transit and more multi-use streets? (open-ended question)
A: Understanding that creating a robust public transit system is not only important to reducing carbon emissions, it is also important for expanding employment opportunities for higher wage jobs. Workforce Development and access is key to the work that I continue to do in the community.

A: 5

Q: In what ways will the NC General Assembly protect water sources and make sure safe water is available to all communities? (open-ended question)
A: In its current configuration, protecting the environment has not been a priority; however, I along with other Democratic Legislators will continue to both advocate and support Governor Roy Cooper's environmental agenda.

Q: As a representative for Forsyth County, how will you address issues of environmental justice? (open-ended question)
A: Prior to running for the NC House, I worked with community organizations that have advocated for solutions to communities of color that have been impacted by food deserts, abandoned properties, and neighborhood dumping. That work has continued and now as a Legislator, I am constantly looking for state funding that can be directed towards that work.

Q: As a representative for Forsyth County, what policy would you propose to safeguard just and equitable development practices in our community? (open-ended question)
A: One of the first bills that I introduced was HB 232- LRC Housing Study,HB 250- Winston-Salem Real Property Conveyances and HB Eviction Expungement, as well as several other bills to address inequitable policies, particularly around housing.
