I urge municipalities and counties in the Piedmont Triad region to pass resolutions to commit to formulating a strategic plan to transition away from energy derived from fossil fuels toward increased use of clean and renewable energy for city/county facilities and operations. These plans should include a goal of 50% clean and renewable energy use, wherever possible, by 2030 and a goal maximizing reliance on clean and renewable energy in all energy sectors while minimizing the use of energy derived from fossil fuels to the greatest extent feasible, with a goal of 100%, by 2050.
