Piedmont Triad Sustainable Communities Planning Project Volunteers

Several organizations in the Piedmont Triad have embarked on a cooperative effort designed to promote livable communities resulting in a sustainable future. The Piedmont Triad Sustainable Communities Planning Project will be a 3-year process and we want you to get involved! A main focus of this project is to help create and sustain jobs and investment throughout the region, as well as promoting housing affordability and a sustainable environment.

PEA Seeks Volunteers for the 2012 Earth Day Fair Planning Team

Do you want to have fun while you volunteer your time and creative energy towards a good cause?  We are seeking volunteers to help us plan our 2012 Piedmont Earth Day Fair, to be held in April of 2012.  We generally assemble a team of 20-30 individuals and we meet once a month from Sept-April.  In the fall we meet to brainstorm ideas for themes and major changes.  Then around the new year each team member begins to work on one specific element of the Fair.  We spread the workload and encourage a fun and creative atmopshere.  If you are interested, please email

PEA Seeks Individual and Group Volunteers for Habitat Green Build

Individual and Group opportunities are available to help build an advanced Green Home with Habitat For Humanity. No construction experience is necessary, only a willingness to help, learn, and have some fun.  The house will include new sustainable products, construction methods, and practices that might be used on more Habitat homes in the future.  Two-story architecture, thicker and better-insulated walls, advanced design windows and heating and cooling systems are only some of the exciting eco friendly approaches being used.

Volunteer of the Year

Every year Piedmont Environmental Alliance awards a  Volunteer of the Year Award to show our gratitude to our outstanding volunteers.  These volunteers have donated countless hours of their time to help PEA facilitate environmental sustainability in our community.  Every year we announce the winner at our annual meeting in the Fall.  Congratulations to our past winners!
