New Weatherization Resource Now On-line at PEA Site

PEA announces Weatherization Makes Sense, a web resource dedicated to providing information on how weatherizing your home can save you money and save the environment. About half of the energy used in a home is for heating and cooling, but much of that heated and cooled air is leaking out through cracks in the house, around windows and doors for example. Weatherization home improvements will last for many years, will lower heating and cooling costs, and will reduce green house gas emissions. Being “environmentally friendly” makes good economic sense!

The PEA Weatherization web resource provides the following information:

  • Why Weatherize (information designed to inspire homeowners to weatherize, including energy and money savings facts as well as data supporting the positive environmental effects of energy efficiency);
  • What to Do (information and resources for conducting a home energy audit; information on weather-proofing basics; information on projects ranging from simple do-it-yourself weatherization tasks to complex jobs requiring an experienced contractor);
  • How to Pay for It (information about and links to an application for stimulus funding, rebates from utilities, and information on tax credits);
  • Who to Call for More Complex Jobs (links to help consumers locate vendors, suppliers, and service providers in our community for those jobs that are too big to do yourself).

Visit often, as more information will be added periodically.
