January — Reduce. Reuse. Recycle
What can you do?
- Make a resolution to recycle, be more environmentally aware and encourage others to do the same.
- If you don’t already, participate in curbside pick-up for newspaper, magazines, telephone books, junk mail/office paper, chipboard, corrugated cardboard (flat), glass jars and bottles, all plastic bottles, aluminum beverage cans, steel food and beverage cans, and aerosol cans.

- Be creative and explore options: ie. newspapers and comics work well as wrapping paper for gifts. Share your tips on Facebook and Twitter
- Recycle holiday lights (at home improvement stores and other sites) and replace them with LED lights for next year. The Electric Power Research Institute estimates the cost of lighting a holiday tree with LED lights in 13 to 17 cents per season compared to $6 to $10 for incandescent lights.
