Caffé Prada

Caffé Prada is the first green caffé in Winston-Salem. This coffee bar, wine bar and gelato parlor is an earth-friendly destination the whole family can enjoy. Caffé Prada uses local, all natural and fair trade ingredients whenever possible. Their coffee cups are Ecotainers, fully biodegradable and compostable. And, their clear smoothie cups are Greenware, made of annually renewable sources like corn or bamboo. Even their gelato cups are compostable. Sustainable building methods were considered in every step of constructing the caffé . They installed on demand hot water heaters in the washrooms and the heating and air conditioning system is top rated for efficiency. The counters and chairs are made of natural woods, and the outside chairs are fully recyclable; so one day when they decide to re-decorate new things can be made from the furniture. Even their magnificent chandelier was acquired at Habitat for Humanity, and according to their employees, it came from Graylyn. Co-owner Alex Prada says, "It cost us a fraction of what we would have paid for one made in China and we burned less than a quart of gas to get it here."
